There are an endless number of investment managers in the marketplace, so how do you know which one is right for you? G&K Wealth Management has the resources and experience to go beyond a manager’s performance numbers to understand the firm’s investment style and operations. We believe that comprehensive knowledge of investment managers is critical to selecting the right manager(s) to entrust with your assets.

In our search for investment managers, G&K Wealth Management has identified primary qualifications that must be met before a manager receives additional consideration.

Assets under management. Assets must be sufficient to indicate investor acceptance, success in gathering assets and negate going-concern issues.

Investment track record. Track record must be available for at least one full market cycle. Investment performance is otherwise difficult to assess and adds little value to the evaluation.

Investment performance. Manager must have solid-risk adjusted returns. Performance must be consistent and competitive relative to benchmarks and managers with similar investment styles.

Management fees. Management fees must correlate with the investment services rendered and be competitive with managers offering similar products.

Regulatory and compliance history. Manager must have a clean history of material violations to regulatory and compliance requirements. Sound business judgment, professionalism, integrity and adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements are a must.

After the field of investment managers is narrowed from the initial screening process, G&K Wealth Management performs additional analysis of the firms and their applicable investment products. Information is gathered through a variety of sources, including independent research databases, industry publications, regulatory filings, conference calls and in-person meetings. We consider a significant number of quantitative and qualitative criteria over the course of our evaluation. The criteria listed below are just a small sample.

With all of the criteria included in our evaluation, it is not surprising that only a limited number of investment managers meet the rigorous standards required to be a part of our Preferred Manager Platform.
